The next Casual Dram is go! For this one, we’ll be looking at dark and light, good and evil… grain and malt!

Two well-aged ghost grains will go head to head with two single malts, whilst dark sherry and PX casks compete against lighter hogsheads and bourbon barrels. Somewhere in the mix, there will also be a blend that will unite these two factions and bring harmony to the whiskyverse.

A short preamble on the histories of grain, malt and blends will whet the appetite before we assess the merits of dark sherry and lighter bourbon casks, and ponder on the similarities of bourbon-aged malt and grain. Lots to work with here.
